What Does a Research Scientist Do?
Research scientists at Metron come from strong educational backgrounds in mathematics, physics, and computer science. Projects typically involve developing advanced algorithms implemented in a computer prototype system for our research and development customers.
We work in small teams, led by senior scientists, who work closely with new employees. Project teams work together from the initial system concept, through software and algorithm design, to implementation and demonstration.
Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, or operations research
- Some programming experience highly preferred; C, C++, Java, Matlab, or related.
- Mathematical, simulation, or physical modeling experience highly desired
- US Citizenship required, position will require background investigation to authorize access to classified information
